[FACULTY DIRECTIONS: Though the university is a 'non-attendance-taking institution', instructors are permitted to have their own participation expectations and enforce consequences for lack of participation (i.e. administrative withdraw). Append the sample text below to fit your personal policies. ONCE COMPLETE, DELETE THESE BRACKETED DIRECTIONS.]
Students are expected to participate in a course as the course has been scheduled. If a student has an excused absence but can attend a class session remotely in real time (e.g. the student can participate while traveling with their athletic team), the instructor may allow it. This is at the discretion of the instructor and is only intended for individual, short-term absences.
If a student is excessively absent (more than two weeks) without prior approval, the instructor may submit a request to the Registrar’s Office to have the student administratively withdrawn from the course. The date of the instructor's request will be used to process a withdraw. Administrative withdraws are final. The student will not be eligible for re-enrollment in the same course section.
