[List individual course/instructor policies here. Examples might include AI, Zoom usage for excused absences, cell phone use, laboratory safety, etc. Also, though the university is now 'non-attendance-taking', instructors are permitted to have their own class participation expectations and enforce consequences for lack of participation (i.e. administrative withdraw for excessive absence). Sample language is provided. Append as needed to match school or program expectations.]
Participation/Excessive Absence
If a student is excessively absent (more than two weeks), the instructor may submit a request to the Registrar’s Office to have the student administratively withdrawn from the course. The date of the instructor's request will be used to process a withdraw. Administrative withdraws are final. The student will not be eligible for re-enrollment in the same course section.
Using Generative AI
Generative AI tools do not “think” like humans, can offer inaccurate responses to prompts, and should not be trusted without follow-up research. The AI tool is not “the author” of its output. AI-generated output contains no original work or ideas. These tools draw exclusively on content generated by authors who were the creators of original work, but whose identities and qualifications have been lost. The use of AI tools cannot replace academic study, critical thinking, and problem-solving that students need to do themselves to develop effective academic and life skills.
Unless indicated in writing by the instructor, AI-assisted writing systems that are trained to follow a written or spoken prompt and provide a detailed response (like ChatGPT, Google Bard, Microsoft Bing/Copilot, etc.) may not be used in this course and will be considered cheating under the university's Academic Honesty policy.
Videoconferencing
In this course, videoconference technology may be used for live delivery of regularly scheduled instructional hours on an occasional basis, such as during a weather or other emergency campus closure. Students will connect to this technology through Zoom.
If a student has an excused absence but can attend the regularly scheduled class in real time, the instructor may allow the student to participate remotely through Zoom. This is at the discretion of the instructor and is only intended for individual, short-term, approved absences.
