Associate of Arts Degree (A)

In order to best serve Concordia University Ann Arbor students in their vocational endeavors, CUAA will offer
students the opportunity to complete an associate degree should they need to withdraw or transfer. The associate
degree will require a modified core, a concentration in a preferred area of study, and elective credits.

This associate degree will allow for a more seamless transfer to another institution. If a student chooses not to
continue their educational journey, they will have gained greater knowledge, skills, and dispositions required to
enter into the workforce.

The degree will be tailored to meet a student’s individual needs. Students will need to work closely with their
advisors to ensure that they meet degree requirements and understand financial aid implications. Specifically,
juniors and seniors will have a reduction in their loans if they choose to pursue an associate degree. In addition,
students will need to request a change in degree in order to receive financial aid. If a student completes an
associate degree and wishes to enroll or stay at CUAA after completing the degree, the student is not eligible for
financial aid unless they declare a specific major.

All students who earn an associate degree will be invited to participate in a CUAA commencement ceremony.

All associate degrees must be at least 60 credits. Per HLC, 24 hours of core/general education coursework are
required. This standard is reflected in the modified core outlined below. With this modified core, CUAA students
will be allowed to take classes in any modality. Students will not be required to take two writing intensive courses
or fulfill the non-western culture requirement.

The duration of the program is a maximum of two years. Students must be enrolled at CUAA on August 26, 2024
to be eligible for the associate degree. The degree must be completed by the end of the 2026 academic year.
